Misha's Kind Food, Inc., is looking for a Senior Product Developer, with a strong background in Food Microbiology and Fermented Product Development that is looking to grow with our company. 

We are a certified B-Corp start-up. We are also OU Kosher, Non-GMO and 100% Organic Certified, and we just won our first Nexty Award. We are building a strong infrastructure with a sharp team of hardworking professionals. Our company has successfully grown from a farmers market favorite to a product found in wholefoods and many other notable natural foods markets with distribution through UNFI, KeHe and DPI. Our Dairy-Free Cheese is a favorite amongst plant-based and non-plant based flexitarians alike. We are constantly innovating and creating more dairy-free products that taste and cook just like the dairy products we all grew up eating.

This position reports directly to the Co-Founders who are also the Head of R&D and the CEO of Misha’s Kind Foods, Inc.

Position Title: Senior Product Developer

Requirements
  • Fermentation Specialist: Experienced in developing and scaling fermented products
  • Food Microbiologist: Masters Degree or PhD in Food Science and Microbiology
  • Experience with plant based food development
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have an entrepreneurial mind 

Responsibilities:
  • Support product innovation 
  • Prepare samples as needed
  • Assist in product development and production scale up
  • Daily execution of R&D related test kitchen activities 
  • Evaluate and recommend current and alternative food ingredients 
  • Create product recipes and lead sensory evaluation of new food products
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure effective resolution of technical and operational issues 
  • Work closely with the Food Safety and Quality Assurance team to ensure the product is the highest quality, safest product for our customers in our Plant Manufacturing Kitchen 
  • Supports cross-functional team and reformulation of current products 
  • Create and manage the specifications for the manufacturing process of all products
  • Test new products and develop specific processing methods in the pilot plant
  • Analytical testing of products to develop QC spec parameters and analyze micro results of outside laboratory  
  • Drive continuous improvement and assist with problem solving & root cause investigations 
  • Trains new and current manufacturing team members in the drivers of product quality 

  
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Expanded knowledge of food regulations with specific emphasis on nutritional labeling, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Understanding of FDA directives and regulations

COVID-19 considerations:

  • Covid-19 Vaccination is required  

Education:
  • Master Degree or PhD in Microbiology

Experience:
  • Demonstrated Product Development Knowledge (2+ years of production or R&D/QC laboratory experience).
  • Experience in applying project management skills.
